Description
The RIGID Phoenix XL 7" LED light pod is the big-reach version of the Phoenix, with white and amber light in one housing for trucks and desert rigs. Speed changes what you need from a light. At pace across open desert or a long gravel road, you want to see the next washout well before you reach it, and that is the job the XL was built for. When the wind kicks up a dust cloud or a storm cell rolls through, flip it to amber and keep moving instead of waiting it out. The softer, warmer white modes earn their keep after the run, back at camp or on a slow technical section, where a full-power beam is more glare than help. On a truck with a strong alternator, run it wide open. On a side-by-side or a build already feeding a fridge, a winch and comms, dial its appetite back so the charging system keeps up on a long night. Mount a pair on the bumper or the rack and you have long-range driving lights and bad-weather lights in the same two housings.
Features
- Six bezel bolts hold the lens; tighten them in a star pattern after a lens change so the seal seats evenly
- Rear heatsink has two magnet positions for the higher power settings; with no magnet installed the light runs at its lowest setting
- A quick press on a momentary switch wired to the trigger lead moves to the next color, and the light saves it after five seconds on
- Holding the switch brings up amber backlight mode, and a longer hold resets every light on that circuit to the same color, handy for keeping a pair matched
- If the dash switch can't handle the light's current, RIGID calls for a relay in line to protect the switch
- The trigger lead must never be grounded; doing so can damage the electronics
- No wiring harness in the box: RIGID harness 40200 runs one Phoenix XL and includes the relay, fuse and dash switches
